The Story of Paesh

Paesh pronounced Pay-SHH

Paesh seeks to provide a unique sensory experience with each global destination centered around food, travel, and culture. Whether you book an international flight next week or explore your neighborhood for the best hamburger, your travel journey is ongoing with beautiful stops along the way. Paesh was created to present invaluable food and travel-related content, curated culinary events, and provide even more in the future!

My great-grandmother Pearlie, affectionately known as Paesh, was a remarkable woman celebrated for her culinary skills. Inspired by her legacy and my cake business as a teenager named after her, Paesh was born as a tribute to my family roots and a commitment to building a community around shared interests. It’s serendipitous that “Paesh” translates to “to present” in Hindi, perfectly encapsulating the mission to curate culinary and cultural experiences that engage all senses. I’m excited to embark on this journey with you, presenting a diverse array of articles and offerings to enrich your sensory experience. Welcome to Paesh!

Hello, Explorer!

Hello, I’m Kandice, the founder of Paesh. My journey into the world of food began at the age of 11 when I baked my great-grandmother Pearlie’s pound cake recipe. Years of baking and watching countless cooking shows lead to a degree in food science & nutrition with a business concentration. While I (mostly) enjoyed the microbiology, chemistry, and engineering courses, it left me yearning to learn more about croissants, chocolate, and global cuisines. Culinary school was the next step in my journey. The world of flavors further developed my palate and I discovered a deeper appreciation for food.

Little did I know my childhood hobby would set the stage for an exhilarating career in the global food industry as a scientist. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside scientists in multiple countries and continents providing innovative technical solutions. While my time in the culinary world was significantly shorter compared to my time in research & development, both distinct disciplines have provided an exceptional foundation for the art and science of food. My love for food would not only shape my career but also open doors to cherished friendships and experiences with people from diverse backgrounds, enriching my life in unimaginable ways.

Throughout my travels to over 20 countries and counting, I've embraced a lifestyle where exploration knows no bounds while pushing through fears and remaining a curious student of life. The homogenous fusion of personal and professional realms has inspired me to share my experiences through my lifestyle blog, where I offer personal anecdotes, life gems, and encouragement for others—especially women of color—to embark on solo adventures. The world needs to see you!

Travel has been an incredibly transformative force in my life. In 2016, after my first trip to Brazil for work, I knew I needed to return. I took a huge leap of faith and moved to Rio De Janeiro in 2019. Hands down, one of the biggest highlights of my life! While I couldn’t physically pack all my loved ones into my suitcase, I knew I could share bits of my travel adventures with others over a shared meal, music, and of course pictures. Upon return to the U.S., the desire to connect with family and friends around the world inspired me to create Paesh, united by the love of food, culture, and global exploration. Let’s toast to unforgettable sensory experiences, community, and joy.  Let’s take flight!

xoxo, Kandice
